It serves agricultural workers, low-income and medium-income individuals and families, elderly and non-elderly individuals with disabilities, homeless veterans and elderly homeowners requiring weatherization of their homes. Housing assistance may come in the form of Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. The Housing Authority administers 625 Housing Choice Vouchers within Skagit and San Juan Counties. These vouchers are used to subsidize program participants’ lease payments for privately owned apartments and houses located within the Housing Authority’s service area. Applications can be submitted at the office in Burlington. Agricultural workers can also submit applications for the USDA subsidized apartments and Low Income Housing Tax Credit projects.
