The Skagit County Public Defender provides court-appointed counsel for limited matters in Skagit County Superior & District Courts.
Upon screening & qualification, the Skagit County Public Defender provides legal representation for juvenile and adult criminal cases (misdemeanors and felonies), dependency cases, at-risk youth/CHINS, civil contempt (child support) and cases under the Involuntary Treatment Act.
NOTE: Clients must screen through the Office of Assigned Counsel and qualify for representation under applicable Washington State statutes. This office does not handle cases in municipal courts.
